When it's hot and humid, cold dishes are the perfect appetizer, and this place is my absolute favorite!

They have way more vegetable options than other places, and they use seasonal veggies, so the prices are pretty consistent.

The owner is super nice, like your friendly neighborhood breakfast lady. She chats with all the regulars.

They have a self-serve sauce station where you can mix your own dipping sauces.

If you think the sweet soy sauce is too sweet, try dipping your food in just white pepper – it's surprisingly good!

[Menu]

Some of the menu items are handwritten, if you dont see what you want, just ask the owner.

[Braised Pork Rice]

I love that they still put cilantro on their braised pork rice!

The pork is the small Dongpo pork style, which is my favorite. The meat, fat, and sauce flavors are perfectly balanced.

The eggplant and bitter melon are cooked just right – soft where they should be, and crisp where they should be.

The dragon beard lettuce is crisp, the okra has a nice bite, not overcooked.

The skin-on kabocha squash is sweet and not too mushy, and the broccoli is crisp and refreshing.

The yam is also cooked perfectly, both creamy and crisp.

[Potato Salad]
Their homemade potato salad is made with chunks and mashed potatoes, with diced cucumbers and carrots. The mayo is just enough to add creaminess, but it doesn't overpower the potato flavor. I love their potato salad! When it's hot, I eat it as a meal. If you want more flavor, sprinkle some white pepper on top.

The three-color egg is seasoned just like home, not too sweet or salty. The pork liver is cooked perfectly, and the pink sausage is soft and chewy.

[Garlic Pork Belly]
The fat and lean meat are perfectly balanced, and the meat is super tender. If you want more garlic, there's minced garlic at the sauce station.

[Shark Skin]
The tender, slippery shark skin is even better with dipping sauce.

[Shark Meat]

Shark meat can have a strong flavor if it's not prepared right, but they do a great job here. It just tastes like a mild swordfish.

[Boiled Pig Intestines]
They clean the innards really well, so there's no weird taste.

The pig intestines are tender on the outside, and the inner fat is sweet and delicious.

They don't have a lot of fried stuff, but what they do have is classic.

[Fried Sticky Rice Sausage]
They fry the steamed sticky rice sausage until it's crispy. The sticky rice and peanuts are perfectly soft and sticky, and the thick sausage casing has a nice fatty flavor.

[Fried Sausage]
A little more lean meat than fat, with a slightly sweet flavor that highlights the meat and fat.

The shrimp rolls have a crispy sweet potato flour coating, and the filling is delicate and sweet shrimp paste. The meat rolls are dense and springy, with a strong meat flavor. They're delicious with or without dipping sauce.

[Bitter Melon and Pork Skin Soup]

The bitter melon is soft but still firm, and they've removed all the excess fat from the pork skin, so it's just soft and chewy.

The dried peas at the bottom of the bowl add a subtle starchy flavor and make the soup more filling.

[Cabbage Roll Soup]
The cabbage is still a little crisp, and it's filled with meat. All the soups come with stewed dried peas.

My friend and I were talking about how this place is perfect for people watching their diet. Everything is made with whole foods and isn't over-seasoned. You can eat here without worry, and the prices are reasonable.
